Nowruz is the Iranian or Persian New Year that is celebrated by various ethnicities worldwide such as in Afghanistan and Iran. Debbie was asked to handle the project and create the visuals, illustration and thus, design and brand for the show. As this was catered to those in Afghanistan, the use of the poppy flower and pigeon’s were prevalent as these are known displays of the country.
Debbie's approach involved hand-drawing illustrations and enhancing them with digital tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. The artwork aimed to depict joy and unity, contrasting the oppressive regime of the Taliban. The final deliverables, including title sequences, name straps, and video walls, were crafted to not only showcase the cultural richness of Nowruz but also to inspire hope and happiness in the face of adversity.
